View Article  Cyclo-cross

I would like to say a very big thank you to all who helped to make the cyclo-cross such a success. I was in the signing on barn with Linda and Rose so I didn't get the chance to see exactly who helped, so I can't name you all personally.

There was the marshalls, and the catering staff who kept me and Rose supplied with food and drink all day, well done Ray and crew, Dennis for doing a great job at the finish line with his assistant,[ unfortunately I don't know who that was ], the people who gave up their Saturday to set the course out, and last but not least, Howard for finding such an excellent venue. I must not forget Linda and the contribution she made. Every-time I looked at her she was doing something different, well done Linda.

I spoke to several riders after their rides and young and old all said the same, they enjoyed it and will certainly go again next year.

Many thanks,  Ann

A date for your diaries.

Hi folks, our club AGM will be on the 28th November. If you would like to put yourself forward for one of the club officials posts,  you would like to propose another club member, or you have something you would like to be discussed at the meeting, please let me know by the 31st October so it can be discussed at the committee meeting on the 7th November.

You may be thinking this is a long way ahead yet, but I wanted to give you plenty of time to think about it, and perhaps discuss an issue with fellow club members.

The week after the AGM, that is the 5th December will be signing on night.

Regards, Ann

View Article  facebook

As I use the blog for getting messages across to all the club members I do not want to lose it. I don't care about facebook, if you want to "chat" to friends then do so by all means, but please don't take away my main source of getting information to members. I often get people contacting me for some reason or other regarding club activities because of what they have picked up on the blog, and I know racing members go on the blog to pick up the latest information regarding events.

I stress again I do not want to lose the blog, it is important to me.

View Article  Ride of the year?
Well done indeed to Mike Lightowlers - many of you will know he only started cycling again at the beginning of the year and within the last week he has:
- riden his first long ride (clubrun last Saturday, just over 60 miles)
- ridden his first time trial (the Club 7-mile event)
- easily completed his Cranwell to Scarborough ride of 107 miles!  What an achievement.  We had either no wind at all, or a cross/tail wind, but even so, to complete that sort of ride in a little over 7 hours' riding time is good - we even put in an extra stop at one point because we were so early!  David and I are meeting Mike next Saturday at the Humber Bridge to ride back with him (yes, he's completing the full round trip); if anyone wants to join us give us a ring or email
